Oh, thats funny

So I'm watching ESPN College Gameday and they are talking about the Virginia-Virginia Tech game. The game is at Virginia.

They said something about how some Virginia Tech fans had got into the stadium last night and spray painted a big "T" next to the logo of Virginia on the middle of the field. So instead of being "V", it was "VT".

Grounds crews were out there painting over the it and using dryers to dry the paint.

That happened at my school a few weeks ago. The biggest rivalry in the conference is between us(Amherst), and Avon Lake, someone burned an L right next to the A so that it was Avon Lakes initials...

Only one game this whole season did we have a mid-field logo. It was the Beechcroft-Brookhaven game. City League schools usually don't paint logo's on the field because the guys that paint the field do it volunteer. But one of the former coaches this year went out and actually painted a cougar on the 50-yard line. What made it even more amazing was that he did it "free-handed", no stencils.

But back on topic, we have a rival right down the street from us in Northland HS. We really don't know why they're considered a "rival" we have beat them by 40 like every year and they always have a lossing record. But our coach was telling us before the Northland game, not to go over to Northland and burn a cougar on the their field(We have done this many times in the past). We didn't this year.

tg05,

Did you see a thread a few weeks back where some fans wrote Iowa sucks on the field with weed killer and it started to show up towards the end of the game?

I think it may have been the Illinois game but I'm not sure.

I'll try to find it.

Yea I saw it, and actually saw a video of it. Except at Iowa they basically burned it on the field.

At Virginia however the fans actually spray painted the "T" on the field, can't remember if it was painted orange or a maroon-purple.

In the late 1960s, at a time when Northern Lights was one of the world's first shopping centers and the new Northland Mall was one of the first enclosed malls in the world, Brookhaven was the most northern city league school.

Northland was built shortly thereafter and many kids who would have attended Brookhaven when there. Beechcroft followed years later as the neighborhoods filled in between Morse Road and 161. Beechcroft became a rival to both Brookhaven and Northland and the Northland rivalry with Brookhaven declined a bit. Brookhaven - DeSales has continued to be a huge rivalry.

They are a rival because the schools draw from an area that once fed only Northland.

I have a question on what you mean by "draw".

If your meaning some kids in the area of Northland are now going to Beechcroft, then your wrong. I go to Beechcroft and we have 850 students, of those 850 about 75-80 kids actually live in the area of the school. The rest are bused up to Beechcroft because of open enrollment. Most of the kids in our area either go to private schools or westerville schools. With the few remaining going to Beechcroft. I don't know if Northland is the same way or not.

About 90-95% of our football players last year were bused in from the south end, west side, and east side. The top reason being because they wanted to play football at Beechcroft because of our success there. Now I know this was proven because of the 26 freshman players(sophmores this year) from last year that are ineligble this year, 20 do not attend the school this year. And that is because they only came to Beechcroft to play football, once they can't play here anymore, they leave.

So just like last year, this year about 90% of our players are bused in from some place.
