Furnace Filters
I don't know how many of you out there were like myself and bought the el-cheapo blue furnace filters from Lowe's.
Found out from a heating and cooling guy this weekend that you need to use the pleated/accordion style Filtrete filters that are about $7.00 a piece and last for about 3 months.
He said he uses those in his own home b/c they trap a lot more of the dust and are much better for the furnace. I already knew they trapped alot more allergens and dust mold but didn't know they were better for your furnace.
Just thought I'd let some fellow BP'ers in on this info. if they weren't aware of it already.

Bought a cheap one the first house we were in. Decided to try a more expensive one because of the allergy sufferers in the house. Night and day difference.

This reminds me of the father from "A Christmas Story". "My Old Man was one of the most feared furnace fighters in the Midwest".

As a real estate agent you probably were aware you could have bought that actual house in the past year. I think you could have picked it up for under $100K. Beautiful view of downtown Cleveland.

so wifey and i are house shopping, and for some reason i always have to look at the furnace filters in houses - i dont know why. the house we looked at a few days ago had a filter in that i swear said stambaugh's hardware on it. the last stambaugh's store that i can remember closed at least 8 years ago. i know the filter could have "new" and just laying around, but i just found it very funny.

I got a Filtrete filter last weekend before I fired up the furnace for the season. Was definately more expensive, but I decided not to skimp on our respitory wellness.

The last Stambaughs that closed, I think, was the one in the Austintown Plaza.
Not a bad idea to look t the filters when shopping.
