The Day After Tomorrow (movie)
Went and saw it last night. If you've seen the trailers in theaters and/or on TV, then you've already seen about 80% of the weather special effects. In fact, I think I had already seen the entire frickin' tornado outbreak before setting foot into the theater. There also was some pretty shoddy editing...in the scene where Dennis Quaid's character briefs the president about evacuating the southern part of the country, he draws a line from coast to coast, with the line running just south of Ohio (threw the middle of Kentucky or close to the Tennessee border). A few seconds later when the shot returns to Quaid, the line now runs through the southern half of Ohio (between C-Bus and Cincy), and when the shot returns to him a third time, the line is back below Ohio but a little higher the the first one. However, there still were some good effects (the computer generated images of the earth from orbit were killer) and all-in-all it was a decent movie, if you're into escapism.

It's nothing but a bull[censored], environmentalist-wacko, global-warming propaganda movie.

If I'm not mistaken, it was directed by the same clown that did ID. There were similarities in style.

No conspiracy, Tibor; just more of the usual bull[censored] from the "Green" Weenies!

I saw it as well, and wasn't impressed at all. The only killer effects were the shots from space, everything else, including most of the weather effects, were viewed from a significant distance away from the action, leaving much to be desired. For a movie like that, the "wow" factor should be high, since that is the only reason many people will go see it. There was nothing "wow" about this (except for the space shots).

FX had a ten minute preview of the movie before an episode of 'The Shield'. I felt that I had just seen the entire movie, and the special effects did look similar to the bath tub tidal wave from 'Deep Impact'. No need to pay $9 to go see a longer version, in the theatres.
