Man Sues Topless Club Over $130,000 Bill

<!--startindex-->NEW YORK -- A diplomat's husband has sued a high-end Manhattan topless club for allegedly adding bogus charges to a bill that totaled nearly $130,000 for drinks and dances.


Tauhidul Chaudhury, husband of a consular official at the Bangladesh Mission to the United Nations, is the second customer in two weeks to claim he was stripped of thousands of dollars at Scores.


Chaudhury claims even after he became "obviously intoxicated" at the club on Oct. 23, 2003, staffers continued plying him with drinks and "took advantage of his intoxicated state."

Three people who went to the club with Chaudhury left after a couple of hours. Chaudhury kept partying for another five hours, the suit said -- thanks to employees who kept serving him drinks and admitted him to a private room.


His bill for the night came to $129,626, which Scores charged on four of Chaudhury's credit cards, according to his lawsuit in Manhattan's state Supreme Court. That's enough to buy 6,500 5-minute lap dances, without tip.


"Chaudhury cannot recall authorizing these charges," according to court papers first publicized on thesmokinggun.com, "and if the credit card receipts do contain his signature he did not possess the requisite mental capacity to authorize these charges."


Chaudhury accused Scores of wrongful conduct and asked the court to award him $129,626 plus interest.


Reached at his Manhattan home Thursday, Chaudhury referred calls to his lawyer, Robert Cantor. Cantor did not return calls for comment.


Scores spokesman Lonnie Hanover said he had not seen Chaudhury's court papers and could not comment.


Last month, Mitchell Blaser, the chief financial officer for the American division of Swiss Reinsurance Co., filed a lawsuit alleging that on Dec. 11, 2003, Scores employees wrongly charged $28,000 on his American Express card.


The club's spokesman denied the accusation, saying Blaser, 54, was spending "like a rock star" and the club's paperwork proves it.

Chaudhury claims he was ready to leave the club when a stranger came over to him and said "Don't leave... I'll pick up the bill on the school's card". He was unable to describe the man, but said he kept yelling, "We're rollin', baby!"

I don't know what they did for $130k... but it better have been for a life long membership, free everything for life, and free use of the ladies when they are not working ... how on earthcould you charge that much at a strip joint. I don't think I could do it, if I tried (unless you gave huge tips... like thousands of dollars each dance)...
