Don't let the bedbugs bite!
Seriously.....they'll tear your [censored] up!

These photos supplied by the law offices of Zalman & Schnurman, showing bedbug bits on the body of Leslie Fox, were taken at the Ellenville Regional Hosptial in Ellenville, N.Y., Thursday, July 14, 2005. Fox, a Chicago booking agent and her husband are suing a Catskills resort for $20 million, saying her body and mind were scarred after she suffered some 500 bedbug bites last summer. Surely I'm not the only one who gets a serious case of the willies when I think about getting bitten by 500 bed bugs.

I thought they called bedbugs "vantzes" in the Catskills.
Regardless, as I used to do some insurance defense work, I am not the least bit surprised that this woman appears to be both overweight and, in all probability, ugly. Dollars to doughnuts, she also has an extensive file of preexisting health and mental health problems and overutilization of health care services (e.g., 4 years of chiropractic "treatment" for a minor rear-end auto accident) and has probably made workers' compensation claims. There are millions (or at least hundreds of thousands) of these emotionally fragile, relentlessly pessimistiic, perpetual victims who always seem to have bad things happen to them that are never their fault (e.g., getting rear-ended in auto collisions that are never their fault (legally at least) 5 times in 6 years, developing environmental illnesses at work or other "work-related" disabilities, getting sexually harassed to the point of being emotionally crippled at every job they've ever held . . . I'm not even saying they're intentional malingerers or immoral frivolous lawsuit-filers either (although a few are): Just people whose own low self-esteem and negativity seems to make them unusually "unlucky".
Why do I say these mean things about a woman who apparently really is a victim here? Because she's asking for $20M for this crap and claiming psychological devastation, yada, yada, yada . . . The incident is aesthetically nasty, and, assuming the hotel is at fault, they should have to pay for her (one would assume fairly minor) medical bills, and related costs and maybe $5-10K for the inconvenience, suffering, misery . . . If I was the hotel's insurer, I'd offer medical and related costs + $5K, be willing to kick in another $5K in negotiations and otherwise take it to trial.
