Turbo or Superchargers???
Which one would you mount on your engine?
Its not the choice of engine, its the add-on.

If I said you could build a car around a turbo or supercharger, which would you pick?

For my application I would use a supercharger.

If I had a diesel truck I would use a turbocharger with propane and a bullydog setup. That would get me around 1k horsepower and 1300 lbft of torque.

I voted turbo for one basic reason: MONEY

It is not at all uncommon to find a car that is turbo-charged. In fact, it is not uncommon to find a factory-equipped turbo-charger with very little turbo-lag.

Superchargers are another matter all together. Some production cars have them, but they are almost always in very high-end models only.

For these reasons, there is a good chance that I will someday buy a car with a turbocharger; but almost no chance that I will buy one with a supercharger.

I would never add either after-market. Making a change that big to any car is asking for trouble, unless you also swap out the parts that have assumed a specific torque curve for the engine; not the least of which is the transmission. At that point it's just more money than I would ever spend on transportation.

Nitrous (hey, who needs an engine after a few runs)...

I voted Turbo... you can get good fuel consumption if turbo a smaller engine... I'll also default to the Porsche engineers, they seem to like the 6 cylinder Turbo configuration
