Tour de France update thread...
After the Prologue, Armstrong finished second, 1.65 secs. behind the leader Cancellara. Hamilton and Ullrich finished in the mid-teens. Armstrong has thrown down the gauntlet!!!!!

An American dominating in France just has to kill them...I love it.
Hopefully, he can dominate the mountain stages again and not let this one be as close as last year

Related story: Our rugby team, the US Eagles narrowly lost to the French team today, 39-31. We were up 21-17 at the half. The French, generally regarded as a top-6 world team must be gagging on their "whine." As for us, even with the loss, it was probably our best ever showing in an international match against quality competition. The match will be shown on 7/18 on Fox Sports World. |

armstrong has won the prologue twice....99 and i think 02......
as early as it is...the prologue is key to armstrongs tour....and armstrong is already up 15 plus seconds to his main contender Jan Ullrich.....
15 seconds...believe it or not...can be alot in this race....
that 15 second advantage is more important than winning the stage....

You're absolutely right. These races are getting tighter every year, so every second Armstrong gains helps him. More importantly, he gained a psychological advantage on his rivals by laying down a superior run.
