Player Haters in Virginia
I was born in Cleveland, Ohio, and although I didn't attend Ohio State, I've been rooting for the university for as long as I can remember. I live in the Washington D.C./Virginia area, and my friend, a Virginia Tech/dropout says I have no right to root for O.S. because I didn't attend the school, and that the only reason folks from Ohio root for O.S. is because the program is successful.
Is that stupid or what? I tried to explained that a lot of Ohio residents root for O.S. whether they attended the school or not. I think it's a hopeless case debating with him, as he could probably never understand football as a way of life being a Virginia Tech fan and living in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
Anyone have any suggestions for shutting him up? Or should I just consider him a hater and let it go?
Thanks,
TV

I'd say its time for the ole "dead hooker in the trunk" trick. That'll shut him up.
I lived in Hyattsville as a kid. I know how east coasters are. Just ask him how Va Tech is going to do in their bowl game?

Tell him to worry about his team going to the Vagisil Bowl or whatever bowl they are playing in.
Ask him if this rule also applies to all of the Catholics who root for Notre Dame.

Trust me, don't worry about it. Living in Virginia, I have seen plenty of obnoxious Va. Tech fans and you just have to ignore them. They are just [censored]ed because their team has no tradition, no national championships, and no heisman winners. They're just jealous of other teams that have success, and I would just laugh in their face if they ever questioned your passion for OSU football. I wasn't even born in Ohio (but I could end up going to OSU for college), but my dad grew up there and his family lives there. I feel like no less of a fan as any OSU fan is, and you shouldn't either.
