My goal is simply to finish. On my feet.

At this point we've done a few 5 mile runs and are averaging around 14 miles per week...
Great to hear, good luck!

Nice! Sub-20 is still dream world for me, unfortunately.

I pretty much just started running for the first time a few years ago - still trying to break 24:00. I haven't really done a whole lot to improve my speed, just distance. This has been the first year since I started that I made it through the year without injury, so I'm hoping to mix in some faster workouts since I don't have to build up completely from scratch again.

My next goal is a sub 2-hour half marathon. In both the marathons I've run, the first half was under 2:00, but for some reason I haven't been able to do it yet in an actual half.

Nope, not a runner. Used to play soccer pretty much year round - so there was plenty of running involved. Now I'd just like to pick up running for fun again and get back into shape.

I'm running the Rite-Aid (Cleveland) Marathon in May. Training was horrible with the snow the last two months, but finally it's coming around. It makes training these days seem much easier.

I'm around a 24:00/5K right now so I have a lot of work ahead of me... that's what I get for getting out of shape. At one time I had set a goal of running a marathon... don't know if that is still in my future or not.

If you are seriously thinking about picking up running to stay in shape I suggest that you set a goal of running in a 5K or 4 mile race. If you are competitive at all (I'm sure you are) you'll train more consistent with a goal in mind rather than nothing at all.

You must know me! I think it's safe to say I'm a competitive girl. And, I think I'd like to run a 5K race - but for now I'll start with running a mile or so and seeing if I can still even do that.

It's like riding a bike!

Thumbs up

Thanks for asking. I have gone from hating every single second to being addicted to it. Before Christmas I ditched the 10K for 5K, I will get to 10 but not until later in the year. I run 5k at least once a week, but right now I am more focused on increasing the slope and speed. Ran sprints a couple weeks ago and about DIED. Or at least it seemed like it the next day, my hamstrings were not happy at all. Will see how they are tomorrow and Monday after doing them again today. I at least have my fitness classes to help keep my legs stretched out and cross-conditioned.The weather needs to get warm and stay warm so I can do outside everyday. Don't know what my actual time is yet, and honestly don't care. I am so damn competitve I just keep pushing myself faster and faster. First race run I plan to do is in June but if anyone knows of a decent race in May (in Ohio) let me know. Want to do at least one a month for the summer and fall.

Define old there youngster. If I tried to go sub 17 now, my legs would fall off.

I ran sub 17 when I was late 30's but that was 8 years ago. I am not sure I could do it now at 47 even if I trained my ass off.
