Good luck, indeed! Reading this thread, combined with the great weather outside, I think I'd like to go for a run today!

Same here... went running for the first time in two months yesterday. I'm shooting to run a few 5K's this summer. Goal: Under 20:00 for the first time since my freshman year in college. Should be attainable IF I stick to my workouts. |

Nope, not a runner. Used to play soccer pretty much year round - so there was plenty of running involved. Now I'd just like to pick up running for fun again and get back into shape.

I'm running the Rite-Aid (Cleveland) Marathon in May. Training was horrible with the snow the last two months, but finally it's coming around. It makes training these days seem much easier.

I'm an old man & I run 17 minute 5K. But, I enjoy running it keeps the weight off. Plus, it's mandatory PT 3 times a week.

At one time I had set a goal of running a marathon... don't know if that is still in my future or not.Quote:
That's a very good 5K... what's your best time? |

I'm not going to kid you, my best time was @ 16:30. I don't need to push it past that time.

Nice... I ran a 16:53 my senior year of high school... don't think I'll ever come close to that again.

And, I think I'd like to run a 5K race - but for now I'll start with running a mile or so and seeing if I can still even do that. |

Thanks for asking. I have gone from hating every single second to being addicted to it. Before Christmas I ditched the 10K for 5K, I will get to 10 but not until later in the year. I run 5k at least once a week, but right now I am more focused on increasing the slope and speed. Ran sprints a couple weeks ago and about DIED. Or at least it seemed like it the next day, my hamstrings were not happy at all. Will see how they are tomorrow and Monday after doing them again today. I at least have my fitness classes to help keep my legs stretched out and cross-conditioned.The weather needs to get warm and stay warm so I can do outside everyday. Don't know what my actual time is yet, and honestly don't care. I am so damn competitve I just keep pushing myself faster and faster. First race run I plan to do is in June but if anyone knows of a decent race in May (in Ohio) let me know. Want to do at least one a month for the summer and fall.

I ran sub 17 when I was late 30's but that was 8 years ago. I am not sure I could do it now at 47 even if I trained my ass off. |
