How about....in general, it is usually younger people preying on older people (hm. loosely defined as at least 15-20+ years difference in my head) with the intention solely of gaining material wealth or notoriety not otherwise obtainable on their own through the avenue of pretending "love" and "emotional support"? Does that clarify my personal definition of "gold digger?"  I don't recall too many older ladies being able to get away with the "gold digger" action, or older men for that matter. There are exceptions to everything of course.
