Update: kid still in hospital. Had to put in a central line in his upper chest instead of a picc line (peripherally inserted central catheter) in his arm - the vein would not take it, so they could get some nourishment in him after six days, 'cause his bowels have shut down for a while due to the infection.
The burst appendix caused infection to form an abscess that is wrapped around a part of his bowel, so that is partly what is messing up his digestive system. The abscess is too near the colon to drain via incision, as they do not want to perforate his bowel and get the sepsis in there. We'll just have to keep hoping the bugs are not drug resistant and hope it clears up with time. Thanks everybody for the kind words thoughts and prayers. |

Update to the update. Les Miles is having a conference at Children's Hospital this morning, and so I had to make an extra trip to go get him his Gator baseball cap for him to wear at the event - at my son's request.
