Dog accidently euthanized...
I love it when stupid people try to pretend that animals are the same as people. Next time, dumb bitch, don't let your dog escape.
Animal Control officials in Michigan have apologized to Anette Hetzer for accidentally euthanizing her dog last week. The dog had been quarantined at the county's animal shelter to observe for signs of rabies after he escaped from Hetzer's home north of Flint on June 9 and bit the woman. Hetzer's husband received a ticket for a leash law violation.

so, let me get this straight, "observing for signs of rabies" is done by euthanizing?

My dad - while in his early 70s - was bitten by a bat while cleaning out his gutters. He killed the bat and we took it to animal control to have it tested.
They lost it.
He had to go through a series of rabies shots.

What I heard was the dog was picked up, and the next day the people called to claim the dog, but said they couldnt afford to pick it up for over a week!!??. If you cant afford to pick up your dog from the pound for a week, then you probably dont have enough money to actually have the dog either. Knowingly leaving your dog at the pound for > 1 day = no right to bitch about dog getting put down. If you dont have the money, beg or borrow for it. If your dog is that important then you will do what it takes.
