Just got back from a 10pm IMAX showing. Totally worth it for Ledger alone. I am a huge "Joker" fan and he NAILED my personal image of what the Joker was always supposed to be. Even Nicholson made him too much of a caricature although I enjoyed that performance as well. Agreed on it dragging at points and on the feel that they really sort of mashed in the Two-face story arc. Maybe should have left that for another flick.
I still don't really like Bale's Batman. It never stopped feeling like he was trying to hard. Even with people who knew who he was....why did he keep using that voice?
On a technical note, those parts that were filmed directly in IMAX format were very nicely slotted into the rest of the movie.
When I left the theater at 1am there were people camping out for the Sunday morning shows. Good thing we have mild summer nights here in SoCal!
Go see it, if you like Batman comics at all. Well worth it. |
