Favorite Brewpub
One thing I really enjoy is a good quality brewpub. Good food and great beers. There are the national ones, like Gordon Biersch and smaller ones like Elevator and Barley's. What is your favorite, and the best beer you've had from them.
Mine is Piece in Bucktown in Near-westside of Chicago. They actually won the champion brewpub at the world beer cup in 2006, and a few of their brews have won gold medals. My fav is the "Top Heavy Hefeweizen" which is a German Style Hefeweizenn: ![]() the place is real cool inside... highly recomend it to anyone living/visiting Chicago. |

Rock Bottom is hit-or-miss depending on which brewpub you're at across the country. Food is okay, but they've got a very good brewer at the Grand Ave. location. He makes some great imperial and barrel aged beers. Gordon Biersch impresses me the more I go there. At first I was turned off by their lack of beer style varieties (all they do are German beers), but that's their niche and they fill it well. Dan Gordon graduated from Weihenstephan in Germany and consequenty chose to focus on what he knows best. Their Czech Lager is fantastic. And of course Goose Island. I've heard that they are closing down their Clybourn location. Anyone know where they are moving to? |

Barley's in my favoritest. Cambridge Brewing Co. here in, well, Cambridge is great too. I also loved the Rogue Public House in San Francisco and one in Durango (either Steamworks or Durango Brewing, can't remember which).

Elevator is my personal favorite though. Have the surf and turf with the Rock Filet and raw shrimp and scallops along with a few of their hefeweizzens. Great meal right there. |

I've been to the Triumph in New Hope. Great place! They had a fun band playing the night I was there.
