Webber in trouble?
The ironic thing is Webber's not in trouble at all. His former HS loses their championships... his former teammates lose their claim to fame... Michigan loses... Martin lost... in all this the most guilty party of all (with the possible exception of Martin) just keeps on saying he did nothing wrong and spending his millions as he sees fit.
NCAA rules (and HS athletic rules apparently) make no sense at all. They punish the coaches, the schools, the fans... everyone but the one person who KNEW he was breaking the rules and chose to do it.
Based strictly on chances of getting caught while you can still be punished and possible punishments, etc. an athlete should take money from boosters at every opportunity... it makes sense! Of course there are other reasons (moral, ethical, love for school/team, etc.) not to, but none of these come from the NCAA... in otherwords these exist without the stupid or poorly enforced rules.
