eh maybe, def not.

i think the staff has a history of underachieving based on the resources at their disposal

who would i put in their instead? i dont know. some say paul pooley. he was .500 at providence and hes at notre dame now.

im really not a huge college hockey fan, most of the teams minus a handful are subpar to chl teams.

That's the basis for the focus on Miami of Ohio's success. If they can build a top 5 program with the same in-state liabilities which we face and 1/10 the athletic department resources, it makes a very good measuring stick against which to evaluate and ultimately judge our own program. Given in-state hockey culture and tradition, judging ourselves against Michigan, MSU, Wiscy or Minny is not always going to provide such an apt comparison. To me, Miami of Ohio does provide that apt comparison and one which finds us seriously lacking at the moment.

I'd be a lot less concerned with what's happening at Miami of Ohio (or Bowling Green for that matter) if Ohio State's program was where I believe it has the potential to be. The fact that one of those programs can get there while we struggle just brings the problems at Ohio State that much more sharply into focus.
it is a good measuring stick, the same way some used average big ten teams as the stick for basketball. fred taylor and thad matta have not. thats my point. if you are going to think, my view is think BIG.

I'm not a big college hockey fan either but I know that the Ohio State program is on a free fall and a lot of money has been put into it.

I don't know if Paul P. is the answer. Ohio State could probably offer the Miami coach something he couldn't refuse or look at what the Ohio State wrestling program brought in as a coach. With the money and facilities that The Ohio State University can offer they should not be second or third class to any university in any form of athletics.

Good luck to the bucks tonight. They played tough against a good Minnesota team last night and lost 3-1. Great playing in the last period and a half, if the pucks would have fell in they would have won.

Go Bucks!

Dropped the second game 2-1; shut out into the third period.

Quite frankly, if Ohio State can't at least get a split with Michigan next month, this season is over as should Markell's tenure.

Unfortunately, I think he'll get a couple of years to do something with this group of recruits, will pull one good season out of his ass (but lose in the first round of the NCAA), and the whole cycle of mediocrity will renew itself.

BuckeyeStu could go either way
Ohio State(2-4-0) vs. Ferris State (2-3-1)

Friday, Nov. 2 - 7:05 p.m.
Sunday, Nov. 4 - 2:05 p.m.

These are a winnable pair of games. The Buckeyes need to get their act together and find the net. Go Bucks!

College hockey: Buckeyes keep perspective after losses

Friday, November 2, 2007 3:27 AM
By Gary Weaver

THE COLUMBUS DISPATCH

After four consecutive losses, it would be natural to wonder whether the Ohio State men's hockey team is getting panicky.
Not even close.
Coach John Markell and senior defenseman Johann Kroll were giddy when speaking of where the team is and where it is heading as it prepares to play host to Ferris State tonight and Sunday in Value City Arena.
"I like the competitiveness and feel of this team," Markell said. "There is no sense
of urgency, and our job is to continue to improve."

Continued.....
