Raffi Torres
Raffi Torres needs a little time each morning for his surgically repaired right knee to "get loose," and he's anxiously awaiting Wednesday or Thursday, when he'll skate for the first time in six months.
But Blue Jackets fans need not worry, said Torres, acquired in a July 1 trade with Edmonton for Gilbert Brule.
"When I'm healthy, I'm definitely going to let Columbus know when I'm on the ice," Torres said. "I'm going to put it all on the line. People are going to know when I'm out there. That's just how I play.
"I've had a couple of rough seasons that I'm not too happy about, so I'm looking for a fresh start."
He met yesterday with Blue Jackets trainer Mike Vogt, had X-rays on the knee and checked out in Nationwide Arena.

I knew you had said that Hitch sees the hockey world as pairs and ones. I really didn't see Peca coming back this year so I was guessing that Chimmer would still play with Manny. Do you see Manny and Jiri Novotny getting much ice time? Which one do you feel will play more? I like Manny but I always hear that he is an overpaid 3rd or 4th line center. As always thanks for your insight and helpful info.

i said this about will weber after the draft
he played 46 games with the chicago steel of the ushl 8/10/18 in 46 +12 with 137 pim.
will has signed as a part of the fall of 2008 class. he will be a freshman this fall in oxford.

will weber ushl (#1 overall pick in the ushl draft) kid, who is headed to miami of ohio. one of the guys i was with was suprised he wasnt picked in the first, i asked why "hes big, hes mean, and hes fast" hes raw, but he has a big time shot and a great athlete, he has a lot to work on but he is a pro dman. great hands and nice poise, qbs the power play with creativity and a laser rocket shot. can throw the long stretch pass and creatively utilizes it with his size and using the boards for the bounce pass. needs to accelerate his decision making process and stop trying to do it on his own. will stand up his man at the blue line or crunch guys along the boards, really needs to work on his defensive positioning, one of the better athletes in the draft. the kid is like a young racehorse, tons of potential that relies purely on natural talent. hurt in the draft by playing at a weird michigan hs. the kid has a bone jarring slapper and wicked wrister, he can stick handle in a phone booth for a big guy. six five 210.

on chimmer/manny/novotony. manny has one thing going for him, hes a big time face off guy. he wins big draws against big time players. hes a top of the league at faceoffs. like i said i dont really know how it will shake out. will hitch want to use a full time checkin line against other teams #1 like he typiclally does? or does he like a combo line? or does he like the skill that jake could bring with manny and chimmer? or who knows. i think so much of it depends on chemistry. so i dont know how it shakes but i see jake and brassard making the big club at this point. |

Kelly has only scored 9 goals in the NHL over the last 12 years. Is this considered an "upgrade" at the center position? Did we just give up on Lindstrom?
