Hockey: OHIO STATE (14-14-4, 10-11-2) at #2 MIAMI (20-5-4, 17-4-2), 2/14/06, 7:35pm
Previous Meetings This Year
11/04/2005 Miami 3 Ohio State 1
11/05/2005 Miami 5 Ohio State 1
12/30/2005 Miami 1 Ohio State 1 (Miami won tournament in shootout)
01/10/2006 Ohio State 3 Miami 0
CCHA Standings
1. Miami (17-4-2) 36 pts.
2. Michigan (13-8-3) 29 pts.
3. Michigan State (11-7-6) 28 pts.
4. Lake Superior (11-9-4) 26 pts.
4. Nebraska-Omaha (11-9-4) 26 pts.
6. Ferris State (9-10-5) 23 pts.
7. Ohio State (10-11-2) 22 pts.
7. Northern Michigan (10-12-2) 22 pts.
9. Alaska-Fairbanks (9-12-3) 21 pts.
9. Notre Dame (9-12-3) 21 pts.
11. Bowling Green (8-15-1) 17 pts.
12. Western Michigan (6-15-3) 15 pts.
Besides the rivalry between these two teams, this game also has major ramifications. Ohio State is right now on the border of making the NCAA tournament or not. A loss against Miami would not take them out of contention completely, but a win could put them in a great position to get one of the few at large spots in the tournament if they fare well in the CCHA tournament. And even though they are tied for 7th, in the CCHA, they have played one less game than everybody else, and a win would move them to 6th in the conference and only 2 points from being in the coveted top 4, which assures a first round bye and home ice advantage in the second round of the conference tournament. Miami needs a win or a tie to claim the CCHA regular season title. They are already a lock for the NCAA tournament, but a win here could effect whether they are the top seed in their bracket or not.

I'm not going to be able to go to this game on account of my Tuesday evening class, 7-9:40. This sucks!
Our students get pretty crazy whenever tOSU comes to town. It wouldn't matter if we were ranked first in the nation (which we have been) and the Bucks hadn't won a single game yet, we still feel like we're the underdog taking it to the big brother. Maybe I can sneak out of class and catch some of this one.

Yeah yeah, like I haven't heard that before. I'm honestly split right down the middle (in hockey at least, in football I'm all Buckeye).

I'll be rooting for the Redhawks...it's my alma mater...and hockey is the biggest sport at Miami...BY FAR! It's a hockey school, and this is the best season they've ever had.

I hate to say it too, but I will be rooting for the Redhawks. Went to University of North Dakota, and they are on the bubble of the tourney... Need losses from everyone in front of them...

Even though I said I was split down the middle, I've gotta go back on that and admit that I'm cheering for the Redhawks as well. I don't know if this is cheating the fan system, but I usually cheer for whichever team needs it the most. In football, Miami upsetting tOSU would kill the Bucks' season, so I wore gear for both schools and cheered on the Bucks. In hockey, Miami obviously needs this one to stay at the top-a loss will do more against them in the long run than it will gain for tOSU. I suppose that's how I'm forced to look at this.

I wish this game was on TV. Does anybody know if the game will be on radio anywhere here in Columbus?
