That's a very fast time for a high schooler (obviously since he was the national champ)... to put it into perspective this year's NCAA Division I champion ran a 1:49.20. |

Ohio State's David Ebersole and Veronica Jatsek won the hammer throw at the Big Ten championships yesterday at Champaign, Ill. Ebersole, a senior and former walk-on, earned his first Big Ten title with a distance of 211 feet, 8 inches -- besting the nearest competitor by nearly 4 feet. It was the third-best distance in Ohio State history.
Jatsek won her second straight Big Ten title with a throw of 203-6, topping the field by more than 20 feet. She has three Big Ten titles.

When Veronica Jatsek looks back on her time at Ohio State, she does not just see the Big Ten championships she has won or the multiple All-American honors she has earned in track and field.
The senior also had her brother Lenny by her side through it all.
"Being an All-American and going to the Big Tens with my brother," she said. "And going the places we go, meeting the people we've gotten to meet and making the friendships we've gotten to make with people on the team … I'll never be able to put into words what that's like."
The construction systems management major has been an All-American three times and recently won the Big Ten championship in the hammer throw, beating the rest of the competition by 20 feet with her throw of 203 feet, 6 inches.
When she competes, she said she hears Lenny's voice.

Answer: The trio medaled in Division I at the 2008 state track meet and will compete at Ohio State in the fall.
"I chose OSU because their team is growing quickly and I'll have an opportunity to make an impact," said Jacobs, who won the long jump on just her second attempt (a personal best 19-9?) at Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium, where McKinney finished third (18-7?).
