Olinger qualifies for steeplechase final

Staff Reports ? June 25, 2009

EUGENE, Ore. ? After finishing seventh in the 3000 steeplechase during last year?s Olympic trials, Brian Olinger took another step in bettering that result this season.
The Ridgewood graduate posted the second best time by completing the event in 8:34.85 and finished second in his heat.
Daniel Huling won Olinger?s heat with the fastest qualifying time of 8:34.13. Benjamin Bruce (8:34.9) and Joshua McAdams (8:34.97) also qualified by placing third and fourth, respectively, in the same race. Those are the four fastest times.
The Ohio State runner entered the event with the eighth fastest time and was at or near the front for most of his race.
The finals will be held at 5:40 Pacific Standard time, 8:40 Eastern, on Saturday. The top three advance to the IAAF Championships in August in Berlin, Germany.

Was gone all weekend and was perusing the USA Track & Field National Championships results and saw a couple of current/former Buckeyes:

Brian Olinger finished 12th in the 3000m steeplechase final with a time of 8:49.37.

Jeff See once again qualified for the 1500m finals. He finished 9th today with a time of 3:45.87.

And the best news of all, former Buckeye Dan Taylor finished 2nd in the shot put with a throw of 21.21m (69'7"). With this finish Dan has qualified to represent the United States at this years World Championships in Berlin, Germany. Congrats Dan!
