I'm no journalism major, but found it interesting that the first article in this thread, capitalized the W in white and B in black, every time either were mentioned. None of the other articles capitalized either. I was just wondering
if there is a reason they were capitalized , other than the fact that BET was the original news article and was going for a racially slanted article ?
I somehow believe that the alleged pigs would have done the same to a white stripper.

Good pick up on the Black/White thing. Coming from BET, I guess I'm not surprised.

Yes, Saranac. I've somehow missed that one and my raucous mayhem days are dwindling. I even missed Savannah this year.
I kind of regret never taking up lax. My grandfather played at Hopkins back in the 1920's and I heard all about it growing up. There was no such thing in Atlanta in the 70's/80's, though. Now it's booming here.

My Dad played at Yale, but then again we are arrogant racist white people so what do you expect?
I hate that argument that just because not many AA's play lax (insert golf and tennis) then it must be racist.

Jokes aside, I think it is important to not forget that the charges that have been made were not made on racial grounds, except in identifying the alleged rapists. Drunken mayhem and fun is one thing. Rape is another thing. These are really serious charges and, if true, there should be some serious consequences.

Agreed. But as always, I have a tendency to approach rape charges with skepticism. Too often, they're bogus and the chic was looking for a pay out of some sort.
So my first reaction is always "What do the accused have that the accuser wants."
Horrible, I know. But my brother went through this. He wouldn't leave his wife for some chic, so she accused him of rape. He spent two days in jail waiting for his arraignment. His name was plastered on all the papers and the ladies in his office refused to communicate with him for months waiting to resolve the issue.
When he was absolved, half the women in the office thought it was a travesty that he wasn't convicted and left.

Dancer was impaired, attorney says

DURHAM, N.C. — Time-stamped photographs will show an exotic dancer was already injured and "very impaired" when she arrived at a party where she claims she was raped by members of Duke University’s men’s lacrosse team, an attorney for one of the players said yesterday.
Durham attorney Bill Thomas said some of the photographs, taken when she arrived at the house, indicate the woman was injured before getting to the party on March 13. They show extensive bruises and scrapes on her legs, especially around the knees, he said.
"This young lady was substantially impaired. She had fallen several times during the course of the evening," Thomas said.
He declined to identify the player he represents and said he would not release the photos, taken by at least two cameras, until pending DNA tests are completed. He also wouldn’t say whether the photos were taken by a lacrosse team member or someone else; court documents have indicated that only team members were at the party.
No one has been charged, but the allegations that members of the nearly all-white team raped the woman, a black student at a nearby university, have rocked both Duke and Durham.
The allegations have led to the resignation of coach Mike Pressler, the cancellation of the lacrosse season and the suspension of one player from school.
Several dozen people gathered yesterday outside the house where the party took place and pledged to return each Sunday until the case is resolved.
"Whether I want to believe it, or whether you want to believe it, something took place in there," said Johnny Williamson, 36, of Durham. "Something indecent took place." District Attorney Mike Nifong, who was expected to return this week from an out-of-town conference and has n | | |
