Hey, I have no issues with playing with the men. But there is a finite pool of $ that is spent on Mens golf for purses and sponsorships. If Michelle takes some of that money it comes directly out of some guy that is trying to pay his family's bills pocket. Compete full time or it should work both ways.

The sponsor's exemption is going to go to somebody that the sponsor feels will attract viewership anyway. That's not likely to be some Joe Schmoe having difficulty putting food on the table. So it really doesn't matter if it's Wie or some other 'name' figure, because the player that needs the $ is staying at home either way.
And to be fair, the sponsor's exemption is there for a reason. The sponsor puts money behind the tournament looking to turn a buck, and the best way to do that is publicity. So if the sponsor wants to put someone in there they know will attract attention, they've kind of paid for that right.

The PGA does not have the words "young" or "men's" anywhere in the title. It is simply the best golfers in the world. Regardless of age or sex. It is also not a tour with a mandatory schedule. The same people do not play in all of the same events. Tiger, Phil, and the other top players pick and choose which events they decide to participate in, mostly based on money. So why can't someone that's qualified to play decide that they want in an event that there is a lot of interest in them being a part of? With the potential of making more money doing it. If the men want to bitch about a woman creating more interest in a tour event that normally would draw no interest, potentially increasing the amount of the prize pool. Then they need to think a little harder about whether costing one fringe player one paycheck is worth the amount of money and interest that they all could benefit from.

Then why is there the LPGA, which has the word "Ladies" in it?
