There was some hope that if Detroit won, you'd have some people watching it in the US who aren't Detroit fans and a Detroit-Ottawa matchup would get virtually all of Canada watching. But the city of Anaheim doesn't even watch the Ducks and neither will the majority of the US. Maybe the time frame is wrong, but if it holds, this is the absolute worst outcome for the NHL itself.

 And sure it was shorthanded, but it was right off the faceoff - even if we were full strength that would've been a goal.
