Quote:
3. Zac Dalpe, C ? Penticton Vees (BCHL): If you haven?t heard of Zac Dalpe yet, don?t worry; he has a tendency to make noise in a hurry. After attracting little interest from the NCAA two summers ago, Dalpe blew the doors off the competition with the Ontario Jr. B Stratford Cullitons. Three games into the season, he had a scholarship to Ohio State.
?I think I had 14 points in three games,? Dalpe recalled. That outburst also caught the attention of the Jr. A Vees, who operate on the other side of the country in B.C.
?It was kind of random, to be honest,? Dalpe said of the interest. Nevertheless, it was a challenge he wanted to take. ?I wanted to mature and grow up in B.C. and as soon as I came over I fell in love with it.?
And the Vees are falling in love with Dalpe. Much like fellow Jr. A prospect Joe Colborne, Dalpe was just 5-foot-8 a year and a half ago; he now stands 6-foot-1. Scouts are high on his stellar two-way play and willingness to battle for pucks, something Dalpe is more than happy to keep working on.
?I want to come out of the corner with the puck more often than not,? he said. With 39 points in 30 games (and just six penalty minutes), Dalpe seems to be doing just that. Draft eligible in 2008.

2008 Draft 31-40
tsn's 32nd best prospect
Quote:
32. ZAC DALPE
PROFILE
Pos: Centre
Shoots: R
Height: 6'
Weight: 170 lbs.
Born: 11/01/1989
From: Paris, ON
Team: Penticton (BCHL)
RANKINGS
TSN: 32
CSB: 16 NAS
ISS: 20
RLR: 27
McK: 26
THN: 29 Comparable: Travis Zajac
From TSN: A late bloomer who left his home in Ontario to play in the B.C. Jr. A League, Dalpe showed enough to merit some first-round consideration. Best quality is his shot but some think he is mis-cast as a centre and plays better as a hard-shooting winger.
From NHL Central Scouting: He has a really quick release on his shot, he is a very busy player and he plays with a lot of energy out there. He is a player that is constantly in motion. He is offensive minded, but plays well defensively too and has made huge improvements from last year – he developed out of nowhere and had a really good year in the BCHL.

posted this in the OSU hockey thread but figured it should be shared here also. Zac is really catching onto the game fast at Ohio State. He is going to be fun to watch as the season goes on.

Buckeye Dalpe Named CCHA Rookie of the Week
COLUMBUS, Ohio ? Zac Dalpe, a freshman forward on the Ohio State men?s hockey team from Paris, Ontario, has been named the CCHA Rookie of the Week, the Central Collegiate Hockey Association announced Monday. Dalpe, a second-round draft pick of the Carolina Hurricanes, led the Buckeyes to a series split with Lake Superior State over the weekend, posting a team-best four points in the two games combined.
In the Buckeyes? come-from-behind win Saturday vs. the Lakers, Dalpe was named the first star of the game after posting a team season-high two goals and three points. He tied the game at 1 in the second period with his first career goal and set up Corey Elkins? game-tying power-play goal in the third. Dalpe sealed the win with an empty-net goal from center ice with 47 seconds left. Friday against the Lakers, Dalpe had his first career point when he set up Hunter Bishop?s goal 14 seconds into the contest.
Dalpe and the Buckeyes return to action with a two-game non-conference series at No. 4 Denver this weekend. The teams will meet at 9:37 p.m. ET Friday and at 9:07 p.m. ET Saturday at Magness Arena in Denver.
