That could have been messy. Because of heats, he could have set 1 or 2 world records in an event, and not even won it's Gold Medal. He could have won a Gold Medal in a relay event, and not been part of a World Record the team set in a semi-final he didn't swim in.

I think the vBet is much better off as it is. I'm probably like most folks, wishing I would have put some serious vCash on 7 and 8 right now.

It was hard to tell if he was really tired (that's what I thought at first), or a little disappointed in his time (as the announcers suggested).

He's fortunate that the relay coming up in a little while doesn't have a threat as serious as the Aussies were 4 years ago, or like the French were in the 4x100.

I think it is safe to say he was just [censored]ed at his time, even though he won the gold. He said he and his coach never talk about winning a medal. Their focus is times to beat.

Fly is a [censored]ing killer stroke. It's almost impossible not to look like that afterwards, even though it's his stroke.

But he's got no more swims today and doesn't go again until tomorrow night (Beijing time). About 36 hours to rest up for the 200 IM quals, easily his toughest individual event - then another night's sleep before the final. If he gets through that and wins his gold there, I think the other two will fall in line. Most especially nobody's going to touch our medley relay team.

I think he'll win the IM without it being real close, I don't see Cseh or Lochte staying with him. And the US should own the medley relay.

The real threat is Crocker in the 100 fly. By comparison, he'll be pretty well rested.

He Later said in an interview that his goggles weren't on right and that water was leaking in and making it hard to see, but that he was also looking for a better time.
