Good vBet, I think this will be "the story" of the 2008 Olympics. Mark Spitz's 7 gold medals at Munich is considered the "Holy Grail" of Olympic records. Phelps has a realistic shot at beating it.

He took like 3 classes during the 4 years he was there, lol. He's moving back to Baltimore after the Olympics. However, he is stuck with that block 'M' tattoo now...

Ok, so "swimming aficionado" I am not, but watching this relay live just now on NBC had me pretty pumped.
A little backstory. Some Frenchie came in talking [censored] to the USA about how they were going to smash us. France is leading with the anchor (still an anchor in swimming? irony at it's finest) the only man left. The USA swimmer obliterates the world record for a one lap split and wins the Gold in an amazing comeback. Phenomenal stuff from that last US swimmer.

Shocker - Shocker - Phelps dream of 8 golds kept alive by the anchor leg in the 4 x 100 Free relay.
Against the French, with the French having the lead going into the final leg and Bernard their anchor swimmer. Stunning last lap. Simply stunning. 0.9 seconds faster than Bernard in the last lap. Phelps owes Lezak Dinner. More than once. With 8 - you get more than egg roll Lezak.
