Hey! Look! A new sub-forum!

This new forum is for philosophical banter which isn't necessarily politics related. I understand that line can be fuzzy. So, what we have in mind here is this new forum is for threads like the Official Bible Thread (though, it must be noted, this forum is not strictly religion oriented... ) or the epic "Little Known Questions" evolution discussion.

There may end up being some bleed over with the political conversation board, but I'm hopeful that discussion of things like current affairs, political goings on, etc. can stay in the "old" Poli board.

Enjoy.

In the meantime, I'll be populating this forum with some threads. If I miss one (and I'm sure I will) that you really thinks deserves a home here, let me know.

I've pulled some threads over here from the poli board. Not suggesting that the threads I pulled are strictly "philosophy" oriented, but from my memory of those threads tend to be more in line with what this forum has in mind.

For example -
Gay marriage is both a political issue (and rightfully on the poli board)

But

can also be understood as an ethical/moral one where one's politics need not be factored in.

I think threads in this forum should always have an eye on the goal of not being particularly partisian in response(s) Again, that's not to say that any politics will not be tolerated... I'm not sure we can necessarily void ourselves of our politics as it relates to issues... but, this forum is more to talk about the issues of a topic without any necessary political overlap.

Eh... we'll see what happens... maybe we find this was a stupid idea, and move everything back.
