Slap
There is never, ever a reason for someone to slap a child or infant. If this crazy coot struck one of my children, I would have to let my rage get the best of me and floor him. I might get arrested, but fathers justice would prevail. I would let him turn the other cheek.

Exactly. You're just supposed to shake them really hard.

not to shift the blame from the scary old man. but if mommy dearest had any semblance of control over her hell spawn this wouldn't have happened in the first place. this may shock some of you but i don't actually want to listen to your child scream bloody [censored]ing murder for hours on end. if you can't control your child, don't take them in public.
at the end of the day, he was able to get the child to stop crying. she obviously couldn't. in my book that makes her a worse parent than the child abuser. |

Now adults aren't supposed to smack. Especially not something 10% of their size. I hope I'm missing some sarcasm font or something... |

don't get me wrong, the nutjob was completely in the wrong and deserves whatever punishment he gets. but that doesn't make chick a good parent. which is worse? abusing a child when they break the rules but instilling them with a firm understanding of right and wrong as well as consiquences to improper action? or providing a child with 0 structure, no discipline and no understanding of right or wrong? certainly would make for an interesting debate. but id consider both to be child abusers. the day i wrote that i made the mistake of stopping by walmart to pick up a couple things i had forgotten the day before while shopping. in the 20 min i was there 4 children between the ages of 7 and 3 were screaming at the top of their lungs the entire time. their parents just tuned them out. simply moved on as if they were being perfect little angels. as i walked down the cereal isle ahead of me was what i assumed to be the father of 3 girls between the ages of 6 and 10. the girls on either side were randomly grabbing boxes and throwing them on the floor as they went. daddy dearest didn't even acknowledge the behavior and continued on shopping. this of course would be normal behavior for a child in a grocery store yes? I agree. An atomic wedgie is much more effective.
