| Political Conversation and Debate This forum is not a temporary one. It will exist up to, and after the presidential elections. Some people want to talk or even argue politics, other's don't. Let's see if we can apply some reason and understanding to the debate. |

Dean! Dean! Dean!
By my calculations, Howard Dean is now the only viable candidate to lead the Democratic Party, so it looks like the job is his. So, what does everyone think is going to happen? Will the Dems gain in the midterms? Will Dean try and promote himself in 2008? Will he be able to support Hillary, who did all she could to kill his candidacy last time? Will the party move left? Will he advocate a change in Social Security? Will I stop asking questions?

As a Republican, I can see no better candidate than Howard Dean to lead the Democrats. Right now you've got Dean, Ted Kennedy, Nancy Pelosi, Barbara Boxer, John Kerry, and Hillary as the "face of the Democrats". Ever since losing the election they've been acting like a bunch of vindictive children.
If this is what they're going to promote, then we've got it made....

As a Republican, I couldn't be happier.
At a time when they need to go more towards the middle, they tap this left-fielder to lead the party.
Unfreakingbelievable.

We're going to take back the White House in 2008. We're going to fix Social Security by 2010. I'm going to be the greatest leader this party has ever had!!! Yaaaahooooo!!!!!!
Then I'm going to eat this kitten.
(Sorry I couldn't resist throwing that pic in after I found it while looking for the "yahoo" pic.)

It's hard to believe that this is as good as the Dems can do.
The next few years will be tough ones for the Dems as the GOP continues to win more and more elections.

If the Dems can't do better than this it is time for a real third party. I am a conservative, but this country is only healthy if there is strong opposition from the other party.
