no that isn't a law and yes, this is blatant fear mongering.

I know it's sick and bad that some of the soldiers are doing this. However, keep two things in mind: it's not every soldier, and while what they're doing is wrong and this doesn't justify it, what they're doing is nothing compared to what other countries' military powers have done/are doing. Basically, what we're doing, is absolutely nothing, when you take in to mind, what many other countries have done.

Typical Limbaugh inspired propaganda. Who, I might add, avoided serving by several student deferments. After he was kicked out of school, he then petitioned his draft board for 4F status based on "anal cysts."

Consider the source on this the Nation. I saw something similar to this a while back pop in a San Fran paper on about gangs and white supremacists being recruited because of the desperate need for people. I asked a couple people I know in the Army about this and they claimed it wasn't credible.

Actually I think it's closer to Michael Savage. From a pragmatic standpoint, I found this to be true. But not everyone has the same reality.

Let's use some logic here. If average and above average kids go to college and skip the military experience what does that leave you with? If you want to point a finger at someone.....don't point it at the military.

Just out of curiosity, what branch were you in?

If there was a draft.......no college deferments. I'm sure special circumstances would allow certain professions to be exempt (medical fields, etc.)

What about the article in the conservative Chicago Tribune about the army enlisting the aid of a Chicago cop to identify gang graffiti at US bases in Iraq?

Also, the soldier indicted in the rape/murder case had been granted a waiver to allow his enlistment despite a history of behavioral problems and mental illness.
