| Political Conversation and Debate This forum is not a temporary one. It will exist up to, and after the presidential elections. Some people want to talk or even argue politics, other's don't. Let's see if we can apply some reason and understanding to the debate. |

Graphic political ad angers Buckeye football viewers

Graphic political ad angers Buckeye football viewers

Apparently some people don't want pictures of dead terrorists, the burning World Trade Center and machine gun-wielding troops to interrupt a nice buttkicking by Ohio State.
Progress for America, an issue-advocacy group from Washington, D.C., is running a 60-second ad across the state with stark images of Sept. 11, terrorists and war scenes, with a narrator saying things like, "These people want to kill us."
Buckeye fans checking out the Cincinnati-OSU game Saturday afternoon on WBNS-TV (Channel 10) got a look at the spot, and then some gave station president and general manager Tom Griesdorn an earful.
They didn't think it was appropriate for the station to show such graphic images during what is essentially a family entertainment broadcast. Griesdorn agreed.
"We have regulated it to a more appropriate time period," he said. That means it will not play before 9 p.m.
A release by Progress for America said the ad "seeks to remind Americans of why the U.S. and its allies are fighting the war on terror." The ad does not mention any specific candidates.
However, the group's Web site solicits donations by noting, "Your help enables us to pass the president's agenda."

Did anyone else catch this ad? I'm sure if you were watching the OSU game, and had a channel 10 feed, you did see this ad, which was shoved down our throats a handful of times during the game. I normally don't care much about these kind of things, but this one struck a nerve with me. It's kind of funny that this PAC represents conservative beliefs, and supposed values......yet they would put those kind of pictures on TV with out any regard that children are watching. These are the same people who bitch when Janet Jackson's tit is exposed, or Howard Stern says a bad word. It's a bit of a joke, those people only care about staying in power, values mean jack [censored] to them. They are only invoking the thought of those values to play to the people who they know will vote for them.
Sadly, we've only just begun with these kinds of ad's in Ohio..........especially with Strickland having such a large lead. Blackwell is going to throw so much [censored] at him that I think it's going to have a reverse effect, and the Ohio people are going to grow to dislike him even more.

I do agree the politicians are despicable for feigning religion/values at convenient times. I do feel that threat is real and poo-poo'ed by Bush/Iraq's inadequecy and dishonesty... but that was a reckless and self-serving way to broach the subject. The threat is real (even if every one of lv's conspiracy theories is true), but that was a heavy dose of racism on network TV, which translated to some racism in America the last time around.
As for avoiding the advertisement, the FF or mute buttons work wonders
