Bring her on. The Clintons gave us Congress on a silver platter in 1994 and they will do the same in 2010 if she's elected. It's amazing what chutzpah, indifference, and arrogance do for the rank and file of the opposition party.

Caveat: HRC has a bit more polish and none of the obvious vices of Slick. That can only add to her already formidable political capital.

I just don't get why some on here get so fired up about Hillary. She is a senator, and a former first wife......big deal. Obviously she is an easy target for pot shots, but that is like shooting fish in a barrel. Deep down I don't think that people would instantly declare her the boogieman if they weren't scared by the fact that she could win a general election.

I compare it to me threatening to leave the country if New Gingrich (a possibly candidate in 08) won the election. It's highly unlikely, so I don't even bother ripping him. Obviously some are a bit nervous..........

Let's see. Firing all sitting US attorneys. HER idea.
Firing the White House travel staff. HER idea.
Concocting false reasons to fire the White House travel staff when it was entirely the President's prerogative to dismiss them! HER idea.
Peruse FBI files of political opponents, lie about the whereabouts of those files. HER idea.
Send the IRS to audit perceived political opponents. Very possibly her doing.
Waco slaughter. Very possibly her doing.

Oh yeah...while ALL of the above was taking place (except Waco), 9-11 was being planned.

All that as merely First Lady. You want that beotch's finger on a nuclear button? I will take Obama over that wench any and every day of the week. At least he engages and respects conservatives, political differences notwithstanding.

great points....but don't Obama fool you....look at his voting record in the Senate....He is one of the MOST liberal Senators, even moreso than Kennedy and Clinton.....be careful don't get sucked in on all the hype...

Joja, everything you post is proof positive of the obsession that white republican males have with hating Hillary. And that fanatical hatred existed from the time the Clintons arrived in DC, well before any of the BS allegations you trot out in support of your compulsive hatred.

That said, the pathological hatred for her from the right is what it is. Much like the pubbies trotted out the gay marriage issue to drive their supporters to the polls in 04', Hillary would drive all the angry white males to empty their pocket books in order to make sure she doesn't get near the white house again.

Now, if John Edwards runs again, and puts Obama on as VP- you guys are toast.

I think that her being a woman has nothing to do with her electability......it's mostly her last name that does her in. I also think that a good deal of Americans don't see a whole lot of authenticity in her (as stated above). That is why I don't think she'll be the candidate.

Who will be the Democratic candidate? I'm not sure, but I am a huge fan of Obama. He is a hell of a public speaker, and has a certain charisma about him that reminds the Dem's of Kennedy or Clinton. People say that experience is an issue..........that is such a bull[censored] cop out. Bush had no foreign policy experience, he was elected. I feel that a president is a person who makes the final say on large scale issues after taking in all the evidence from his advisors. Part of being a good president is putting a lot of smart people around you who help you weigh out each decision. Obama is a very calculating individual, and he is on the right side of many issues that a majority of Americans are on.

I just think that there will be some sort of backlash next time around for a president who is sharp, well-liked, eloquent, and optimistic (not someone who views the world as a huge combat zone)........pretty much an anti-Bush kind of guy. Obama fits that mold perfectly in my opinion.

I also think that Edwards and possibly Richardson will make a push FWIW.

I agree with the Edwards and Richardson comment, but with Richardson as the lead name on the ticket. Can someone name the last Senator elected President?

Hillary is polarizing, but what really damns her is her sprint to the center.

It isn't so much that Obama has little experience for me. It is that he is still not taking a stance on anything. He is carrying the old adage of never accepting the premise of a question too far. At some point the electorate will have to see if the king is wearing any clothes.

As to universal health care I do think it can work, sort of (like that answer ). I have read articles over the years since Hillary ran that committee that if we can "simply" streamline all the administration in health care we could save up to 50% of the cost. I think the numbers are excessive, but if there is a way to reduce inefficiencies and gain affordable care under the same service model as now then it needs to be pursued.
