| Political Conversation and Debate This forum is not a temporary one. It will exist up to, and after the presidential elections. Some people want to talk or even argue politics, other's don't. Let's see if we can apply some reason and understanding to the debate. |

Are the democrats trying to find a way to lose? My redneck Grandpa who has always voted dem would never vote for Hil. or Obama.

But then again how many black/ female republicans would vote Dem if they ran? It would be a give and take scenario I think.

you might have a point if there were more than 2000 black republicans in the US.

Not many. Every Republican female I know hates Hillary more than most men do. As far as black republicans go, I highly doubt they are going to vote for a Democrat solely because they are African-American. If you are black republican there are some pretty strong convictions you must have to be a conservative and I don't think they would hop over the ailse just to vote for an African-American.

Agree. While a more moderate Democratic female candidate might draw some Republican votes, I'd bet on record turnout among registered Republican women for the express purpose of keeping Clinton out.

I bet obama could at least increase voter turnout quite significantly among african americans.

I'm sure that it was probably so you wouldn't confuse him with Barack Abdul-Hakeem Obama, Barack Abdullah Obama, or Barack Mahmoud Obama; who are three lesser known candidates.

I put the middle name in there because, as you well surmise, IMO there will be voters who will not vote for him because that is his middle name. You know that and I know that. It is just another possible reason for him to not win. In that vein I think including his name is justified. I already know I am not going to vote for him. So I don't care what his middle name is.

The election is shaping up to be more about voting people in or keeping them out on everything but their political convictions. Definitely sad. It's going to be a looooong election cycle.
