Maybe so, but it isn't going to be much prettier if Obama wins with charges of ACORN voter fraud, especially if it actually pans out that he is attempting to "redistribute income" as some are currently charging. There may not be riots, but if one thinks Obama's 4 years will be a unifying force, I think one is living in the land of make-believe.

I'd say that depends primarily on what policies his administration implements (assuming he's elected).

While you never know, if how they run their campaigns are a reflection on how they will reach accross the isle come january, a betting person would have to think Obama's temperment has a better shot at reconcilliation than McCain's.

McCain's campaign to court PA is a mistake. NC is safety for McCain. Ohio, Missouri and Florida will go McCain's way in the final days. The key is Virginia and Colorado. There was a map of the states that are in recession and Virginia isn't on there yet. That's where McCain at least has hope, as opposed to PA where I think he has no chance.

Could be, but both McCain and Obama are well-known for having friends on both sides of the aisle.

I'm not very confident that Obama is going to reach across the aisle for anything if he gets his supermajority.

where was the map, id like to see it. and when you say recession do you mean two qtrs of contraction already or one?

Obama has had the luxary of being in the driver's seat, particularly down the stretch...were it reversed, one wonders (and I don't know for sure) what kind of campaign he'd be running.

Can't find it now, I apologize. I think I saw it on the yahoo homepage or one of the articles. But what I do remember about the map was that the vast majority of the country, except the midlands and virginia, were in a recession.

McCain has actually reached across the aisle before. What in Obama's record or what instance of Obama reaching across the aisle would actually suggest that he would?

Republican presidential candidate John McCain?s brother, Joe McCain, called 911 in Alexandria, Va., to complain about traffic earlier this week. And when they told him that 911 was only for emergencies, he used an expletive to the operator and hung up.
Wow. And they say John McCain is a hot head. Maybe short fuses run in the McCain family.
Here's a snippet of the transcript:
Operator: Alexandria 911, state your emergency

Caller: Well, it's not an emergency but do you know why on one side at the damn drawbridge of 95 traffic is stopped for 15 minutes and yet traffic's coming the other way across the drawbridge?

Operator: Sir, are you calling 911 to complain about traffic? (pause)

Caller: "[Expletive]" (caller hangs up)

The operator called the caller back and received this message: "Hi this is Joe McCain I can't take this message now because I'm involved in a very (inaudible) important political project... I hope on Nov. 4th we have elected John."

The operator then called the number back and left a message for Joe about how it is illegal to use a 911 number for anything other than emergencies.

Here's the best part: An outraged Joe called the operator back to complain about being read the riot act about calling 911 and got read the riot act again...

Charles Fried, a professor at Harvard Law School, has long been one of the most important conservative thinkers in the United States. Under President Reagan, he served, with great distinction, as Solicitor General of the United States. In 1985, McCain traveled to Chile for a friendly meeting with Chile's military ruler, General Augusto Pinochet, one of the world's most notorious violators of human rights credited with killing more than 3,000 civilians and jailing tens of thousands of others.

The private meeting between McCain and dictator Pinochet has gone previously un-reported anywhere.

According to a declassified U.S. Embassy cable secured by The Huffington Post, McCain described the meeting with Pinochet "as friendly and at times warm, but noted that Pinochet does seem obsessed with the threat of communism." McCain, a member of the House Foreign Affairs Committee at the time, made no public or private statements critical of the dictatorship, nor did he meet with members of the democratic opposition in Chile, as far as could be determined from a thorough check of U.S. and Chilean newspaper records and interviews with top opposition leaders.
At the time of the meeting, in the late afternoon of December 30, the U.S. Justice Department was seeking the extradition of two close Pinochet associates for an act of terrorism in Washington DC, the 1976 assassination of former ambassador to the U.S. and former Foreign Minister Orlando Letelier.
