Would US Airways have complied if the Bush twins were ugly hags?
the funny thing is how the airline tries to defend their decision by saying "We do it all the time" Uh, just say, "Yeah, we did it because of them. So?"
President's Daughters Get Ride On Diverted Flight
Airline Defends Decision To Divert Plane
UPDATED: 6:46 PM EDT August 3, 2004
WASHINGTON -- US Airways confirmed Tuesday that a scheduled flight between Boston and Washington, D.C., was diverted Saturday so some stranded passengers -- including President George W. Bush's twin daughters -- could get on the plane.
The Bush twins were picked up in Albany, N.Y., along with 22 other passengers. However, the move caused a two-hour delay for those traveling from Boston, reported WRC-TV in Washington, D.C.
The US Airways Shuttle flight between Boston and D.C. was already 20 minutes behind schedule when, just before take-off, passengers were told their aircraft would be making the unscheduled stop.
A mechanical problem with another US Airways flight stranded Jenna and Barbara Bush in Albany. The twins and 22 other passengers were added to the Boston-to-D.C. flight. The plane arrived at Washington Reagan National Airport two hours late.
A representative for US Airways said the decision to divert the plane had nothing to do with the Bush twins. In fact, the representative said US Airways often diverts planes for such problems, but could not provide an exact number when asked.
Several passengers at Reagan National Airport said they have never heard of such treatment.
Industry experts say such diversions are extremely rare.

My friend flies Delta shuttles between D.C./Boston/New York, and he said this, frankly, is not "extremely rare," but instead simply never happens. The point of the shuttles in the northeast is that you have quick access on zero notice. Not much news here, but it is kinda funny.
