Political Conversation and Debate This forum is not a temporary one. It will exist up to, and after the presidential elections. Some people want to talk or even argue politics, other's don't. Let's see if we can apply some reason and understanding to the debate.

Lies on lies, Kerry now claims it wasn't X-mas in Cambodia...

Kerry states that it wasn't Christmas in cambodia, rather January instead....

Hanoi Kerry should understand that you cannot cover up a lie with another lie! How long until the swifties expose where JFKerry really was in January?!

For those who aren't familiar with the quote:
"I remember Christmas of 1968 sitting on a gunboat in Cambodia. I remember what it was like to be shot at by the Vietnamese and Khmer Rouge and Cambodians, and have the president of the United States telling the American people that I was not there; the troops were not in Cambodia. I have that memory which is seared--seared--in me."

Really? The memory was SEARED in him? Then why the discrepancy? Why are 60 swifties saying Kerry is being untruthful about these events?

They're unpatriotic cowards who cannot question Kerry's service because Bush was in the National Guard

How many of those guys were actually his crewmates? You are probably getting your information from that jackass O'Neill. That book was totally baseless, even John McCain (who is campaigning with Bush) has stated that the book is dishonorable.

The whole military service argument has become quite comical. Bush and his administration have run a smear campaign on Kerry's medals and the validity of his service. The point of the matter here is that despite *questionable* honors that Kerry received, he was there in Vietnam. You can question what he did when he was there, but he was indeed there, something that Bush, Cheney, Rummy, Wolfowitz or any other Bush war hawk cannot boast. The only major member of the Bush administration that served war time was Powell, and he was a major skeptic of the Iraq war. Why do the Republicans continue to dig here, they may end up triggering off a booby trap.

They can question his senate records, or his flip flopping, but Kerry has Bush in military experience. That is the reason why they are trying to downplay his experience so much, because he has a clear cut advantage here.

Rumsfield served in the Navy. The reason it's an issuse is that Kerry made in an issuse in his acceptance speech. Bush or the Republican party have never come and specifically attacked on his service record. The swift boat vets are doing that themselves. Kerry doesn't have an advantage in military department because it doesn't mean anything. FDR and Lincoln would considered good war time presidents and they never served. U.S. Grant's service didn't exactly make him a great president.

4 month tour plus training is more experience than two years?

More bull[censored] coming out of John Kerry's mouth. Is anyone keeping a tally on how many times John Kerry has been caught lying? I lost count 2 months ago.

It's funny that it all started with a simple Botox injection. Always style over substance fair-haired Kerry?

I agree with the sentiment of the post, but I wanted to clarify a point of history regarding Lincoln. Although he never served in the US military, he did serve in a volunteer military company in Illinois during the 1832 Black Hawk War. Lincoln was elected Captain of his company, which joined a regular army company headed by Captiain Zachary Taylor. Although Lincoln never participated in any fighting, he did serve for several months at his post.
