| Political Conversation and Debate This forum is not a temporary one. It will exist up to, and after the presidential elections. Some people want to talk or even argue politics, other's don't. Let's see if we can apply some reason and understanding to the debate. |

Debate moderators to be named
I know people have feelings about Drudge, but I see no reason why one would lie about something this unsensational. Anyway, I hate to display my ignorance, but other than Lehrer, I don't know much about any of these people, or how they will run a debate. Does anyone else?
DRUDGE EXCLUSIVE: Commission on Presidential Debates to announce Debate Moderators this afternoon.
First Presidential Debate: Jim Lehrer (PBS)
Second Presidential Debate: Charlie Gibson (ABC)
Third Presidential Debate: Bob Schieffer (CBS)
Vice Presidential Debate: Gwen Ifill (PBS)

I don't know, AKAK...seemed to me like Cheney probably helped win the election last time in the debates more than Bush did.

Actually, most every pundit I have heard speak say that the key to that election was Bush beating Gore soundly in the debates.

I wouldn't miss them for the world.
Cheney is one of the smartest and most knowledgable people in government, and he's an insufferable prick. He wins battles by being correct.
Edwards is a goofball who looks like he's retarded half the time, but his one great strength is his oratory skills. He won his cases based almost entirely on the ability to indentify with people and convince them.
Two completely different styles, but it should be a great debate to watch.
Kinda like watching the Ravens play the Rams.

Good analyses/analogy. I agree.

Atlantic Monthly had a great article on the upcoming Bush/Kerry debates. The summary was that Bush is at his best when prepared for the questions and at his worst when caught off guard. Kerry is at his best when surprised, but screws up when he has to think about things. I think we've already seen this play out recently. Should be interesting.
