| Political Conversation and Debate This forum is not a temporary one. It will exist up to, and after the presidential elections. Some people want to talk or even argue politics, other's don't. Let's see if we can apply some reason and understanding to the debate. |

Bob Costas is a Pansy
I am waching the Olympics and just why the hell did Bob Costas mention the fact that our athletes were getting applause regardless of our "foreign policies"?
I think that is f'in bull[censored]. If Bob Costas was tall enough to ride the grown up rides I am sure he would understand the meaning off courage or sacrifice? Does anyone have any parting words for "short round"?

Reason: Change "pussy" to "pansy" in the title because it was showing up on the main board

I would guess that he meant that the crowd was putting aside any disagreements with our involvement in the Middle East and recognizing our athletes for what they are...athletes. It would not have been unexpected to hear a bunch of ignorant morons boo the US team because said morons think Americans are war mongers.

I would guess that since he's an American boradcasting to an American audiance, the US would be the country he's most concerned with. Besides, any anti-war crowd wouldn't boo France and Germany because their involvment has been next to nothing compared to ours. Of course, no one is going to boo "poor little Iraq".
I'm not justifying his announcing...just thinking out loud here.

Ekeen,
I think you are looking a little too far into this one bro. I have been reading how the US has prepared the athletes for 'hostile" crowds, so I think that Costas may have been a little taken back that the US wasn't greeted with hostility. Not saying that I agree here, but I think that one could assume that the U.S. is not held on the mountain top of the world opinion at this present moment.
