Taosman's Query About The Term "Homo"
Is calling someone a "Homo" as bad as using the "N" word to describe someone in a derogatory way?

I can't imagine it being even close. I'd think a term such as "fag" would be found more offensive, and even that I wouldn't see as being nearly as bad as the "N" word, but I could certainly understand that people would find the term offensive.
"Homo" is really just an abbreviation of the full term "homosexual." Since someone calling someone else a "homo" would be intending to call them a "homosexual," then there doesn't seem to be anything for anyone to upset about. Unless, that is, if someone were to find the term "homosexual" offensive.

If we can agree that the term is used in an offensive manner, then why don't we ban it from Buckeye Planet!
I believe that would make this sight better and eliminate some of the prevalent "locker room" language. We need to always put our best face on for the many visitors we get. (Parents of recruits, kids and visitors. )

You want to ban the term "homosexual" or "fag"?
Wouldn't "homo" or "homosexual" only be offensive to homophobes? If you find the term to be offensive, perhaps you need to include yourself on the list of homophobes you believe are so prevelant on this site. Just a thought.

Oh come on, Sandgk, you must know it comes from the Latin homo, meaning "man". All men are homos.
