Three Reasons Why I Can't Stand Hillary Clinton

Seems like people have a love/hate relationship with Hillary Clinton.

I'm of the opinion that a number of those who love her do so because they think she can restore the glorious 90's over which she and her husband presided. What I'm more curious about is the hatred. I have my own reason why I can't stand her. As much as it's more of a *gut* level repulsion, I've tried to process my feelings and instincts to see what tangibles I can come up with. Naturally, I'm wondering what others on this board think/feel.

So here's the question: Name Three Reasons Why You Can't Stand Hillary Clinton.

Here are mine, just to get the conversation going:

1. She talks about empowerment, yet, when her husband openly cheated on her, she swallowed her own power and independence and chose to stay married to him. I think the only reason she did this is because she knew that her political career and leadership aspirations would be finished without him. I realize that's a personal choice, but she made that choice as the second-most public figure in our country.

2. She spins, flip-flops, lies, deceives, twists, and gives that cheshire-cat smile through every situation that threatens to bust a whole in that hard outer shell she puts on to get people to trust her. She's done that for as long as I can remember (ie well before this nominating election). She smacks every bit of an old-style dirty politician of a by-gone era. It seems to me that that style no longer belongs in our "modern" political landscape.

3. I'm not a fan of Bill Clinton's - at all. Never was... I can't stand the fact that an HRC presidency would *pretty much* equate to a third (and maybe fourth) term for Bill.

I too am curious about the negative feelings I harbor for Hillary and how rational such feelings actually are.

See, I actually felt Bill Clinton was a good President, looking back on it. I wouldn't mind if it was Bill Clinton running for President right now instead of Hilary. But yes, that would help soften me up to a Hilary Presidency, knowing that Bill was back in the White House. But I still would prefer Obama or McCain over Hilary.

This just occurred to me. We all know that when Bill and Hillary lived in the White House, Bill cheated on her with a White House intern, then lied to the nation about it. Despite that fact that I think Bill was a good president, that is still a painful memory for America. That brings up a whole awkwardness factor when it comes to putting Bill and Hillary back in the White House again.

But back to what you are saying about how you feel Hillary just stayed with Bill (after he cheated on her and lied to the nation about it) because of her own selfish political aspirations... yes, that is definitely how it came across to many (in fact, someone else was telling me this same thing the other day). I'm not sure if it's true or not, but I do agree that it came across that way, and whether it is fair or not, I do feel that reflects negatively against Hillary.

To me, it's just more that Hillary's personality doesn't come across as very likable.

Two main things I can think of why I'm not a Hillary fan:

1) She has just gotten too much of a bad rep to too many people over the years. Negative Hillary Clinton jokes have been common for years. It all started with the fact that a lot of people didn't like seeing a First Lady so aggressively involved in her husband's Presidency, especially when she was choosing to go by the name of Hillary Rodham-Clinton at the time (it wasn't until a few years ago that she decided to change her name to Hillary Clinton to help improve her image). Call her polarizing, whatever... the fact of the matter is that her reputation has taken a lot of getting dragged through the mud already, and I'd rather have a President whose image is more clean with the American people.

2) She was a Senator during the Bush Administration, one of the more powerful people in the Dem party. Yet, to me, the Dem party came across as weak during the Bush Administration. I don't want to reward one of the powerful Democratic Senators from that weak period in Dem history by giving him or her the Presidential nomination over Obama. Hillary should have been the Dem nominee in '04 instead of fellow Senator John Kerry (I would have supported Hillary over Kerry).
