| Political Conversation and Debate This forum is not a temporary one. It will exist up to, and after the presidential elections. Some people want to talk or even argue politics, other's don't. Let's see if we can apply some reason and understanding to the debate. |

The opposition has nothing to lose so long as he stays, once he's impeached, they'll have to vote to oust him, but he's embarrassing dems, not reps, as it stands right now.
Conversely, Dann is pretty much completely politically dead, so I'm not sure why he'd resign "for the good of the party" It's a cluster.

What's the replacement process? Special election or Governor appointment?
Also, as we learned all to well during the Clinton process, if the opposition leads the charge to impeach, then it essentially forces the other side to rally around and defend. Better to just let a party remove its own trash than waste political capital on something that will just be spun as partisan bickering.

His second-in-command (Thomas Winters) is the acting AG for now, until Strickland picks an interim replacement, then there's a special election in November.

Mr. Dann's egregious transgressions against both his office and the public trust are particularly hurtful because the voters' mandate for change still stands, and the rest of the "class of 2006" is ready and willing to pursue this change.
Wasn't Dann part of this "change" that was supposed to be better? Yes, he was. The point?
"Change" for the sake of change isn't always better. When a candidate runs on "change" make sure to require him/her to define what the hell they mean by "change", before assuming their definition is the same as your own.
