Make The Case for Your Candidate

Purpose of this thread is simple. In as many words/videos/pictures/posts as you like, make the case as to why your preferred candidate for the presidency should win in November. There are only two rules to this thread:

1. You can only be positive about your candidate. No attacking the guy you don't support. No attacking political parties, political ideologies, or political groups (e.g. Focus on the Family or MoveOn.Org). In other words, focus on the qualities and policies of the candidate that causes you to support him. (Reservations you have about your preferred candidate are okay to share, but it would be helpful to explain why you can look past them).

2. You may question the posts of others for clarification on what they say or why they believe what they do. However, unlike every other thread on this forum, you may not mock, criticize, or debate in a hostile manner another's position. This is not meant to squash such activities, it is only asking you to take such actions to other threads.

Oh, and this is not limited to McCain and Obama. If you support Nader, Barr, etc., feel free to share why. If you are undecided or are waivering at this point, also feel free to share why. Just remember, try to keep it positive.

We're just going to see a bunch of positives that implicitly attack the other guy (eg "I support John McCain because he is not secretly a Muslim"; "I support Barack Obama because he didn't change half his policy positions for the campaign")

The point is to have one thread where everyone can voice why they will pull the lever for the candidate without being attacked for what they believe. This really isn't so much a thread about why candidate X is great, it is about allowing individuals to explarin the reasons and processes they are using to reach the conclusions they have. Keeping it positive is to create an atmosphere that is welcoming to all views and opinions.

For example, I will write my case for McCain at a later time. In it I might explain how I have reservations about him appointing judges that are strict constructions to the federal courts, but despite that, he is more likely than any other candidate with a legitimate shot at winning the White House to appoint those types judges. This one single thread allows me to make that comment and stay on topic without having another poster sidetrack the discussion by arguing whether or not strict constructionist judges are a good thing or what is a strict constructionist, because ultimately, this thread is not about that, but about how I came to my position of who to support.

If you want to make a claim that none of the candidates are worthy of your vote this time, feel free to do so. But explain your reasons why in a positive manner, just don't go around attacking candidates or other posters.

Here would be a hypothetical example:

I feel none of the candidates will adequately address the issue of illegal immigration. If we are to stop this problem, we need to penalize corporations and business that knowingly hire them and provide the incentive for them to come into the United States. I have not heard one candidate propose a plan that will address this issue, which I believe is the root cause of the problem. As I believe this is the most important issue facing this country, I cannot support any of the candidates.
