I'll say this - I think John McCain is a hell of a lot better choice than W, and I think Obama is a hell of a lot better choice than Kerry. So I'm pretty optimistic that things won't get worse, and they might even get better. Regardless of who wins.

I wasn't too excited about 2004, either.

That said, there's another issue at hand...Congress. Frankly, I think they've done a lot more damage this decade than the President, and will continue to do so no matter who wins the White House in November.

It looks like it will be a different congress than it was for most of the decade, FWIW... for the most part, I think political collusion between the legislative branch and executive branch is a bad thing, no matter which party is holding both.

It's been different since 2006 than it was prior to it. I wouldn't say better, just different.

You sound like a W apologist. W is the worst POTUS we have had in my lifetime -- yes, worse even than Jimmy (the Naif) Carter. Both genuinely good men, both execrable chief executives.
