| Political Conversation and Debate This forum is not a temporary one. It will exist up to, and after the presidential elections. Some people want to talk or even argue politics, other's don't. Let's see if we can apply some reason and understanding to the debate. |

Man, these conventions are brutal. I thought they should've forced the residents at Gitmo to watch last week. By the time Obama finished his coronation speech, they would've been begging to be waterboarded. I hope our soldiers denied that request, however, in favor of making them watch the Reps this week, too.
The rhetoric at these things is to the extreme, but I guess those are the people who actually go out of their way to attend one. Frankly, I don't want anyone on the floor of these conventions picking our future president. Neither of the candidates warrants the admiration being thrusted upon them, and I hope McCain resists any urge to replicate the resurrection of the chosen one we saw last week. Once was more than enough... ![]() |

Okay, after last night's dog and pony show I'm totally convinced that neither of these guys has a clue about the economy. No matter how many times government sticks their finger in the batter and ruins the cookies they never figure out why things went wrong. Instead, they think it'll be better next time if they stick their entire hand in it.
The bigger problem than either of these guys is Congress, but it's amazing how little attention is paid to them. The president can't sign any law until it gets through those jokers, and most of them have been there so long you and I are the last people on their mind...until election time. If you're staking your personal future on any of these clowns I wish you luck. I see people running around with their signs and t-shirts who actually believe if "their guy" gets into office all of the problems in their life will go away. The savior in Washington will make it all better. My only hope is they don't totally screw things up before I've managed to get my 75-80 years in, because if you think it can't get worse than this you need to take a look around the planet, or find yourself a 90 year old American with a good memory. |
