He was one of a handful of journalists/TV newsmen I respected and would watch. A hell of a sports fan, most notably his Buffalo Bills to boot.
RIP big guy. You will be missed.
They just announced on the Open telelcast that Charlie Jones, a long time TV broadcaster in the Southern Cal area and nationally with NBC passed away last night.

The last time I watched Meet the Press, Russert looked like just beneath the collar of his shirt, he had a tightened belt around his neck, half choking him. His face looked red, his eyes were bloodshot. I remember thinking he didn't look too good.
Edit: To be fair, that was probably at least three or four years ago.
