| Political Conversation and Debate This forum is not a temporary one. It will exist up to, and after the presidential elections. Some people want to talk or even argue politics, other's don't. Let's see if we can apply some reason and understanding to the debate. |

Could the network find one more woman congresswoman or senator to interview, please? And, please, please let there be a controversy with Hillary. The news needs it!
Also, is anyone besides me laughing out loud at the "Michelle" signs in the crowd? It's just gawdy and tacky. Geez. . . |

Michelle Obama was flat out amazing. She delivered the perfect speech tonight.

![]() FOX news, in spite of calling her speech beautiful, called tonight - with Ted Kennedy back from a brain tumor and Michelle's great speech - a "wasted night." WOW. If there was any tiny sliver of creditibility for them... they might have killed it right there. truly a bunch of ass-clowns |

That said, I am in no way advocating the Fox News position. |

Having watched Pelosi and McCaskill speak earlier, Michelle delivered a far better speech than those seasoned pols. The Lion looked pretty good for a guy recovering from a brain tumor.
Michelle's goal really wasn't to give a great speech as much as to demonstrate that the Obamas are really an All-American family. I thought they did a fairly good job of meeting that goal. The next 2 nights should be red meat for the party faithful. |

Jesus, look at all the hippies jump all over me
![]() My only real point was that anyone can deliver a speech that's gone through more edits than Rich Rodriguez's contracts and been practiced more than punting at Notre Dame. Honestly, to answer sushi's question, I don't really remember the wives' speeches, and I won't really remember this one either. It was good, maybe even great, but to me it was not all that significant because, as was pointed out earlier, it's a convention speech, so how much of that she believes strongly in, or even believes at all, is still up in the air, as it is with all of them. I said in the McCain thread that the 2004 Repub convention was staged to look like the moderates had taken over, and that was for Bush, so I just don't know how much can be believed by any of this. It makes for good theater, but this is pretty predictable if anything...the Obamas are going to "deliver" well, McCain won't, and Hillary will be more careful with her choice of words than any woman in history. |
