The abuse being heaped on Sarah Palin is such a cheap shot.
The complaint against the Alaska governor, at its most basic, is that she doesn't qualify for admission to the national political fraternity. Boy, that's rich. Behold the shabby frat house that says it's above her pay grade.

Regardless of what one thinks of Palin, these (except maybe Caribou Barbie, which is kind of cute) are way over the top. Name-calling has become way too popular in politics, on both sides of the aisle.

Honestly, I don't care how much Obama or McCain pay for their suits. What I do care about is the hypocrisy of the woman putting on this "hockey mom" schtick, talking about how small town Wal-Mart shoppers are the "real America" (doesn't take a professor of rhetoric to recognize that there must necessarily be an "other" "illegitimate" America) then finding out that she's taking 150K in free clothing from Nieman-Marcus and Saks.

Then again, her tenure as Alaska Gov would seem to argue that she's quite comfortable taking illegitimate cash reimbursements from the taxpayers, so why would she pause over a few pieces of clothing.

I would think that any POTUS/Veep candidate, male or female, spends a fair amount of money on clothes. It just goes with the territory and arguing about it only contributes to the difficulty to keep the focus on what the intentions of the candidate are. If I wanted to watch people bitch about clothing I'd google Brittney Spears.

I am interested in just who has referred to her as caribou Barbie or any of the other pejoratives listed in the mainstream press. I haven't see her referred to as anything other than Governor Palin or Ms Palin.

At the same time I have heard her use "Barack Hussein Obama," emphasizing the middle name, on more than one occassion.

And of course there's the famous "That One" by McCain.

God's too busy helping assorted athletes catch touchdowns and hit home runs. He might be stretched a little thin, so I hope she has a backup plan.

McCain's just positioning himself for his advertising career after November 4th. Dole had the viagra commercial. McCain's just getting his catch phrase out there a little early.
