How many times did we say that about Nixon?
And by "we" I really mean any of you really old people that might actually remember that stuff.

Thing with Nixon though is he was exponentially obsessed with the idea of obtaining power...it was absolute pathogenesis. Even when he had it, he couldn't rest, and even when it was clear no Democrat on earth could beat him, he still had the Watergate break-in anyway. It was therefore easy for him to come back and go for broke, because it was all he had or cared about. He also had that "it" factor that Teflon Billy-Jeff had...the ability to bounce back from seeming career death, multiple times, until Nixon's pathogenesis finally caught up to him (well, Clinton's did too, but it wasn't illegal, just, er, uh, messy on a dress).
Palin, on the other hand, strikes me as having none of those qualities...she looked uncomfortable during the debate, uncomfortable during interviews...she's good at preaching to the proverbial choir, but that does not a leader make, at least on a national scale. She might have designs on a Senate seat, and she might just be able to win one, given her popularity in Alaska and the size and nature of the populace, but President? Fuggetaboutit.
