She has the wack-job extremism of Kucinich with the electability of Newt Gingrich. Apparently she never heard the phrase, "Don't quit your day job."

Paul Begala (a zealot in his own right) had a column about this situation on The Huffington Post. I didn't care for most of what he was spouting off about, but he did bring up the old HST motto, "When the going gets weird, the weird turn pro." It's funny 'cause it's true.

Or maybe it's smart to quit your day job so that you can be free to take on speaking engagments -- she gets a hefty figure for appearances -- become a paid commentator -- and take your chances running as the leader of a movement as oppossed to someone who actually has to vote or act on legislation. Think Dick Nixon and Ronald Reagan, think of the difficulty of running with a voting/governing record.

Stay or go, it's a crap shoot either way, but she has 33% of the GOP in her hip pocket no matter what she does and she won't need much more to become a presidential contender. However if she remains Gov it would be extremely tough to begin a campaign from Anchorage, 4 time zones from the New York press center.

As someone who often voted GOP (Voinivich has always gotten my vote) in the past she represents the very worst the party has to offer.

Ratcheting up her offensive against the news media, Gov. Sarah Palin?s attorney threatened Saturday to sue mainstream news organizations if they publish ?defamatory? stories relating to whether Palin is under federal investigation.

In an extraordinary four-page letter, Alaska-based attorney Thomas Van Flein warns of severe consequences should speculation that until now has largely been confined to blogs about whether Palin embezzled funds in the construction of a Wasilla, Alaska, sports arena find its way into print.

?This is to provide notice to Ms. Moore, and those who re-publish the defamation, such as Huffington Post, MSNBC, the New York Times and The Washington Post, that the Palins will not allow them to propagate defamatory material without answering to this in a court of law,? Van Flein warned, citing Alaska liberal blogger Shannyn Moore.
Sounds like a pretty good idea to make threats to a group of media outlets that probably have more lawyers on retainer than Alaska has inhabitants. Alaskans of all people I would think know what could happen if you poke a bear with a stick. Hell, the Times and the Post hadn't even printed anything on the situation in question, so good job making sure they pay a little extra attention to it now.

Sounds like a pretty good idea to make threats to a group of media outlets that probably have more lawyers on retainer than Alaska has inhabitants. Alaskans of all people I would think know what could happen if you poke a bear with a stick. Hell, the Times and the Post hadn't even printed anything on the situation in question, so good job making sure they pay a little extra attention to it now.
But now we got a story about them threatening to sue if the story about embezzling funds is published. So they can report that story, which is not only true, but totally free of malice.

In her mind I guess she might...much the same way the lousy singers on AI try out because their family tells them they're wonderful. Don't get me wrong, I think she'll be a national voice (albeit for a certain segment of the populace of moderate to small size) and she will be well paid as a speaker, and she'll be a fixture at GOP conventions because they won't have a choice, but if she really thinks that by qutting as governor she can be President, I dunno, she isn't as crafty as many people think she is.
