| Political Conversation and Debate This forum is not a temporary one. It will exist up to, and after the presidential elections. Some people want to talk or even argue politics, other's don't. Let's see if we can apply some reason and understanding to the debate. |

She has an 80% approval rating in Alaska.
She [censored]ed off a bunch of higher ups in the Republican Party a few years ago (Change/outsiders) She has a child getting ready to go to Iraq. Her 5th child, just born back in April has down syndrome She is superconservative and against abortion. She is gives that surprise factor, and should create a media buzz. |

She seems like an interesting, dynamic person. Well played, Johnny.
This is a question to our female posters here: A lot of people will see this as an overly obvious move to grab Hillary supporters. Do women feel like their political ideals are being caricatured if all political pundits think you need in a candidate is two X chromosomes? No doubt the McCain campaign will find groups of women who will at the drop of a hat look directly into the camera and say "I was a Hillary supporter, but now that Palin is on the ticket I'm voting for McCain! (No commonaility in their platforms whatsoever? Who cares! You go girl!)" Is this empowering? Or Offensive? |

Is that you, ekeen?
I keep forgetting that attraction and [censored]ability are important traits for a political candidate. |

Well, attractive people do get better jobs...

Bottom line: Obama made a grown up pick based on who was most qualified. McCain made a pure political ploy. We'll see if it works.

I would never have voted for Hillary, and that has nothing to do with her gender. I have to say, Palin very much intrigues me though. She seems to be very much her own woman. We shall see. |

Watching her speak now. Interesting optic. McCain is standing next to her... almost like he's propping her up. You would think he'd pick someone who could "stand on her own."
